Cross reference & selection

Battery cross reference tool — equivalents and device finder

Type the number printed on the cell you took out, or pick the device it came from. You get every equivalent number for it, the chemistry, the voltage and the size — and each equivalent number carries the manufacturer document it came from. The tool is free and needs no registration; the equivalent tables on this page work with JavaScript switched off.

Data version 2026-10-14. Equivalents come from the manufacturer documents listed on each model page; the EU reference is our own factory document number. A code shown as plain text is ambiguous between two different cells, so we leave it unlinked. Numbers that fit the same holder but are a different chemistry are split by family in the tool above — they are not equivalents.

Direct answer

How do I find the equivalent of a battery?

Read the number printed on the cell, then match it in the table below or in the tool above. A battery number tells you the chemistry, the diameter and the height: CR2032 is a 3.0V lithium cell, 20.0 mm across and 3.2 mm high, and 5004LC, DL2032, ECR2032 and SB-T15 are the same cell under other standards and brand codes.

Which battery does my device take?

Pick the device type in the tool above, or read the table below. Watches, key fobs, mainboards, remotes, scales, thermometers and toys all run on coin cells, but the size changes with the model and the year — so the cell you take out is the authority, not the device name.

The part competitors leave out

Is the same size the same battery?

No, and this is where most cross-reference charts mislead buyers. The same can size is shared by different chemistries: an LR44 and a 357 are both 11.6 × 5.4 mm but run at 1.5V alkaline and 1.55V silver oxide, and a CR2032 and a BR2032 are both 20.0 × 3.2 mm with different discharge curves. Energizer states it plainly on its own coin cells: “Coin Lithium batteries are not interchangeable.”

Same size, different chemistry

An alkaline and a silver-oxide cell of the same size fit the same holder and are not electrically equal. Silver oxide costs more and holds a flatter voltage for longer — that is why watches, thermometers and medical devices specify it. Our tool shows both groups separately, never as one list.

Same diameter, different height

CR2032, CR2025 and CR2016 are all 20 mm across and 3.2, 2.5 and 1.6 mm high. Height sets the capacity, and it decides whether the holder spring reaches the cell. A 0.4 mm difference is enough to make a device fail — CR1220 against CR1216, for example.

Numbers that get confused

Retail listings call 379 an alternative to the 364. It is not: 379 is 5.8 mm across, 364 is 6.8 mm. We removed it from our own equivalent list for that reason — and the tool flags the pair rather than passing the error on. Brand codes collide too, so always measure.

Data provenance

Where do the numbers in this tool come from?

Every equivalent number is taken from a manufacturer document, not from a retail listing or another cross-reference site: the ANSI / NEDA and IEC designations from Energizer’s own product datasheets, the brand codes from Maxell’s cross-reference guide, Renata’s cross-reference guides and Energizer’s published replacement lists, and the specifications from our own data sheets. A number that only one document prints is listed as single-source.

  • Energizer product datasheets (data.energizer.com) — the ANSI / NEDA and IEC designation for each size, capacity and operating temperature, e.g. “ANSI / NEDA-5004LC, IEC-CR2032” for the CR2032.
  • Energizer product pages — the manufacturer’s own replacement list for a size, e.g. “Replacement for: 5004LC, BR2032, DL2032, ECR2032, ST-T15” on the CR2032 page.
  • Maxell Micro Battery Cross Reference and Replacement Guide (biz.maxell.com) — one row per size with the Energizer Eveready, Duracell, Rayovac, Timex, Varta, Renata, Bulova, Seiko, Citizen, Vinnic and GP codes side by side.
  • Renata cross-reference guides (renata.com) — the code each maker prints for a size, per product page.
  • Varta datasheets and Duracell cross-reference tables — used where they are the only document naming a code, and marked single-source when they are.
  • Our own data sheets — capacity, weight, voltage and dimensions for the cell we actually make, the same values printed on the model pages and in the EU declarations.

Two documents disagree in places — the Seiko code for the CR2032 is printed as SB-T51 in one chart and SB-T15 in two others — and the tool says so instead of picking a winner. Where a number cannot be confirmed in a manufacturer document at all, the tool says that too, and offers to confirm it on a sample instead.

FAQ

Battery cross reference FAQs

Can I use a CR2025 instead of a CR2032?
Only if the holder still makes contact. Both are 20 mm across and 3V, but the CR2025 is 2.5 mm high against 3.2 mm, and a thinner cell relies on the holder spring to reach it. Capacity drops too — 170 mAh typical against 190–255 mAh for our CR2032. If the device specifies CR2032, fit CR2032.
Is an LR44 the same as a 357?
No. They share the 11.6 × 5.4 mm can and both fit the same holder, but the LR44 is a 1.5V alkaline cell and the 357 is a 1.55V silver-oxide cell. Silver oxide holds a flatter voltage for longer, which is why watches and medical devices specify it. Never mix the two chemistries in one device.
Is a BR2032 the same as a CR2032?
No — same 20.0 × 3.2 mm can, different chemistry. CR is lithium manganese dioxide; BR is lithium carbon monofluoride, with a different discharge curve and usually lower capacity, and better behaviour at high temperature. Energizer’s own CR2032 page lists BR2032 as a replacement, and Renata and Maxell print the size as “CR/BR2032”, so it is a legitimate swap only where the device specifies BR or needs the wider temperature range.
What does 5004LC mean on a battery?
5004LC is the ANSI / NEDA designation for the CR2032 — the US standard name for the same cell, printed in the Energizer CR2032 datasheet as “Designation: ANSI / NEDA-5004LC, IEC-CR2032”. Other codes for the same cell include DL2032 (Duracell), ECR2032 (Energizer) and SB-T15 (Seiko).
What if my number is not in the tool?
Send us a photo of the cell, or of the battery holder, and we will read the diameter and the thickness and reply with the equivalent and the specification sheet. We also produce sizes without a page of their own, including CR2477, CR1620, CR1616, CR1216, LR43, LR521, LR726, LR920, LR927 and 27A.
Do you supply these cells under our own brand?
Yes — that is what the factory does. We manufacture the cell and print your brand, artwork and dieline on it. First orders start at 50 cartons per product line, mixed-SKU cartons are possible for retail programmes, and we ship with the documentation your market asks for (EU declaration per model, safety data sheet, packaging artwork).
