Batteries for Home Appliances, Remotes and HVAC Controls
Which cells does this channel actually buy?
Five formats cover the majority of appliance and HVAC applications: AA and AAA for remotes and sensors, C and D where the device is heavy-drain or needs to run for a year, and 9V for smoke alarms, meters and older controls. The 12V cylinders cover garage and gate remotes.
| Model | IEC | Voltage | Capacity | Typical device |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AA alkaline | LR6 | 1.5V | 2150 – 2600mAh | Remotes, thermostats, sensors |
| AAA alkaline | LR03 | 1.5V | 1020 – 1260mAh | Slim remotes, small sensors |
| 9V alkaline | 6LR61 | 9V | 620 – 640mAh | Smoke alarms, multimeters, controls |
| 9V zinc-carbon | 6F22 | 9V | 320mAh | Low-drain legacy controls |
| AA zinc-carbon | R6P | 1.5V | 900mAh | Clocks, low-drain devices |
| AAA zinc-carbon | R03 | 1.5V | 400mAh | Clocks, basic remotes |
| 12V cylinder | 23A | 12V | 50mAh | Garage and gate remotes |
| 12V cylinder | 27A | 12V | 20mAh | Smaller remotes, doorbells |
Why does the same AA last a year in one device and a week in another?
Because drain, not capacity, decides the outcome. A thermostat draws microamps almost continuously and will run for years on one AA, while a motorised toy or a camera flash can flatten the same cell in an afternoon. Specifying for the average device is how a range ends up with the wrong cells in it.
- Low drain (clocks, thermostats, remotes): alkaline or even zinc-carbon is adequate; shelf life matters more than capacity.
- Medium drain (toys, torches, radios): alkaline, and the capacity difference between grades starts to show.
- High drain (motors, flash, pumps): alkaline or a rechargeable line — the cell, not the device, becomes the limiting factor.
- Ask us for the discharge curve of a specific model if your device sits near a boundary.
What makes a cell leak in storage?
Two causes dominate: a discharged or over-discharged cell left in a device, and prolonged storage in heat. Leakage is a design and storage issue, not a brand issue, which is why retailers who store a season of stock need leak-resistant construction and honest shelf-life data rather than a marketing claim.
- Our alkaline button cell line is 0% mercury — a requirement for consumer distribution anyway.
- Shelf life is published per model: for CR2032, one year after delivery under normal storage, 98% of initial capacity maintained.
- For long-stored retail stock, choose the format that sells through fastest and rotate it.
- Never leave discharged cells in a device between seasons.
Who do we supply in this channel?
Our customer set includes brands that sell in the electrical, HVAC and small-appliance channels rather than only in supermarkets. MARS is a US electrical and HVAC-channel battery brand, and SUNBEAM is a US consumer and small-appliance brand selling AAA alkaline multi-packs.
We describe the channel and the format we supply. We do not publish order sizes, prices or delivery terms for any customer.
Can appliances ship with our cells fitted?
Yes. Cells can be supplied loose, packed in the same carton as the appliance, or installed in the battery compartment — but these are three different transport classifications and three different documentation sets, so tell us which one you need before we quote.
| How the cell ships | What changes |
|---|---|
| Loose in the carton | Packed with equipment; separate packing requirements |
| Installed in the device | Travels as equipment containing batteries — different UN handling |
| Bulk shipment to your warehouse | Cell-level transport documentation only |
Frequently asked questions
Do you supply alkaline and zinc-carbon, or only one?
Both. Alkaline covers AA (LR6, 2150–2600mAh), AAA (LR03, 1020–1260mAh) and 9V (6LR61, 620–640mAh). Zinc-carbon covers AA (R6P, 900mAh), AAA (R03, 400mAh) and 9V (6F22, 320mAh). The right choice depends on the drain of the device, not on the price alone.
Which certification matters for appliances sold in the EU?
EU Regulation 2023/1542 governs how batteries are placed on the EU market, and every model we publish carries its own declaration of conformity reference number. Add UN38.3 for the lithium cells and RoHS across the range.
Can you supply 12V cylinders for garage remotes?
Yes — 23A (12V, 50mAh) and 27A (12V, 20mAh). Both are stocked as 5-piece printed blister cards, 100 per inner box and 1,000 per carton as standard.
What is the minimum order?
First orders start from 50 cartons per product line, button cells included. Custom battery packs are quoted per project after design and sampling.
